A strategic infrastructure designed to strengthen connectivity and capacity in one of the continent’s leading digital hubs

Milan, 28th April 2026 – Vaultica Data Centers (“Vaultica”), pan-European leader of colocation and interconnection services for enterprises, announces its expansion into Spain with the opening of a new data center in the Madrid area. The initiative is part of a growth path aimed at supporting European organizations in an economy increasingly driven by data, cloud, and reliable infrastructure.

With this project, Vaultica aims to contribute to the development of one of Europe’s most dynamic digital markets. A data center is far more than infrastructure: it is an enabler of competitiveness, an accelerator of innovation, and a trusted pillar for businesses and institutions that must protect and make their data available every day, without interruption. In this sense, Vaultica’s entry into Spain also seeks to generate value for the local area by fostering new opportunities for the supply chain, the growth of specialized skills, and the attractiveness of the region for technology companies and advanced services.

The site will be located in the municipality of Alcalá de Henares, within the “Los Salobrales” Industrial Estate, about 25 km from the capital. The choice reflects Vaultica’s approach: developing a network of interconnected campuses in Europe’s main hubs, where proximity to connectivity nodes and robust development conditions make it possible to deliver projects with a long-term vision.

The campus will be integrated within an existing industrial complex. The project is designed to support up to 12 MW of installed IT capacity (MWit), supplied through two grid connections fed by two independent electrical substations.

“Our mission is to connect and protect data, providing organizations with secure and reliable infrastructure, while continuing to innovate to make a difference in the sector,” said Sherif Rizkalla, CEO of Vaultica. “Vaultica was founded with the ambition of becoming the European benchmark for quality, reliability, and innovation in the data center industry, offering a unique combination of cutting-edge technologies and a strong focus on people. Our expansion into Spain is a natural step in that direction: we want to provide the market with robust infrastructure and a way of working that puts trust, operational excellence, and customer relationships at the center.”

Wilbert Velasquez, Vaultica’s Vice President of Construction, will lead the delivery of the new campus, having personally overseen the site acquisition phase as well. Velasquez will manage the project end-to-end, from design through construction, ensuring compliance with Vaultica’s standards for quality, safety, and reliability. He will also serve as the primary point of contact for local authorities and institutional stakeholders, supporting the initiative’s technical and administrative development.

“A project of this kind leaves a lasting impact when it successfully combines vision with practicality: building a solid infrastructure that is ready to grow and capable of supporting the region’s digital ecosystem,” commented Wilbert Velasquez, Vice President of Construction at Vaultica. “Our goal is to build a data center that reflects Vaultica’s promise, placing operational resilience and execution quality at the center of every phase of the process.”

The opening in the Madrid area further strengthens Vaultica’s commitment to building a pan-European interconnection ecosystem, capable of supporting organizations in the markets where they want to operate, with the same service quality and operational standards.

“Joining the CERN Internet Exchange Point represents an important milestone for Vaultica and is fully aligned with our vision for digital infrastructure – open, resilient, efficient and increasingly responsive to the real-world needs of businesses, operators and institutions,” said Sherif Rizkalla, CEO of Vaultica. “The Internet is often perceived as something intangible, but every digital service relies on networks, data centers, fibre and interconnection points that determine its quality, reliability and sustainability. At a time when Europe must strengthen its digital autonomy, working with ecosystems such as CIXP means making a tangible contribution to building more robust, efficient and sustainable connectivity for the future.”
